Welcome to the Green Tree Frog Kindergarten Room
Group Size – Maximum of 20 Children. Ratio – 1 Educator to 11 Child.
The Green Tree Frog Kindergarten Room’s name comes from the Aboriginal name “Burrura” which means ‘Green tree frog’ and is derived from the Darumbal language.
At Elfin House Community Child Care Centre we as Professionals believe early childhood is a unique, exciting and valuable stage in life and that with positive partnerships and teamwork, together, we can genuinely contribute to the best start in life for each child with play based learning. We are committed to providing a safe, secure and healthy environment for the children in our care.
We would like to welcome you and your child to the Green Tree Frog Room. Children will experience both indoor and outdoor play. They will be encouraged to participate in a range of physical, creative and sensory experiences.
What is the main focus of the Green Tree Frog Room?
The Kindergarten room at Elfin House is facilitated by a qualified Early Childhood Teacher and a Diploma qualified experienced Early Childhood Educator. In partnership we plan and implement curriculum plans which incorporate a balance of play based learning and intentional teaching practices. The Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines combined with the Early Years Learning Framework and the children’s emerging interests guides us to create rich learning experiences which promote positive dispositions towards learning.
Our Kindergarten program allows children to learn school readiness skills and life experiences such as cooking, Library excursions, numeracy, literacy and scientific skills. The children are also encouraged to complete self-help tasks with support from educators. These self-help tasks include toileting, changing own clothes after wet play, packing up after play, organizing their belongings and making healthy choices at meal times. We are committed to ensuring the children in our care are confident, happy, active learners whom are starting their journey to become lifelong learners.
